Young Woong is a trainee of the PROOF Centre and also AllerGen NCE. Young Woong started his PhD program in Experimental Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 2014 and is currently studying under the supervision of Dr. Scott J. Tebbutt. His research is related to allergic rhinitis and asthma. Young Woong graduated from Yonsei University in South Korea with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master in Medical Science. He has experience with molecular and physiological experiments in gastroenterology and neuroscience. His PhD studies allow him to learn not only wet bench work but also bioinformatics skills. The main focus of his studies is to discover a mechanism of action of Cat-SPIRE, a novel immunotherapy against cat allergy, using analyses of peripheral whole blood transcriptome change after a nasal allergen challenge at both pre- and post- treatment.
